About

Founded in 1994 when solicitors first acquired the right to appear in the higher courts, SAHCA is the only independent association to represent the rights of all solicitor advocates practising in England & Wales. Our uncompromising aim is to enable our members to attain the highest ethical and professional standards of advocacy, whilst promoting parity and equality of opportunity with the Bar. SAHCA’s members represent a broad range of practitioners from Magic Circle firms, to sole practitioners – with one shared goal – excellence!

So if like us, you care passionately about your role as a solicitor advocate, here are three good reasons to join us:

High Quality Advocacy Training at non profit rates

As a non-profit organisation, our annual joining fee of £50 (redeemable in full on your first booking) enables you to receive considerable reductions off our training and events. Using the Hampel Methodology, our experienced solicitor advocate trainers offer comprehensive, high quality training for advocates at beginner and intermediate levels, with great opportunities for judicial assessment.

Specialist support and networking throughout the year

Throughout the year you will receive newsletters and e-updates enabling you to keep abreast of practice developments. We also offer a prompt, practice advice and support service for our members. Our networking and training events held regionally and in London provide fantastic opportunities to meet with fellow solicitor advocates and senior members of the judiciary.

The only independent voice for solicitor advocates

We lobby passionately and tenaciously on behalf of our members. Our experience and dedication to excellence means that SAHCA’s views are actively sought by major stakeholders including the Ministry of Justice, Law Society, Solicitors Regulation Authority, Bar Council, Bar Standards Board, Legal Services Board and members of the Senior Judiciary.
